Hello

Narrated stories come in all forms. For many years I told my stories through paint, depicting fresh fields, people, figurative work and still-life. Creating small windows that express life.It is a love I continue to apply. In 2012 while looking at some very fine carving, I had an idea. A story popped into my head and I found I could paint with words.Louis my ghostly hero was born. Three books tell of his journey.
I write of romance, spiritual lives with a little bit of magic and demons thrown in.

About Me

I'm Brenda Hurley and I originally trained as a dress designer at Bradford College of Art. I worked in the light clothing industry before starting my own manufacturing company, selling to mail order catalogues. In 1976 my husband was moved to London to be in charge of a West End office, and we settled in Tring, Herts. In 1981 I went back to college to develop new skills in fine art, especially painting, at the St Albans Art College. In 1990 I returned again to college, and earned a distinction in B.H.D.A.D.As well as exhibiting my paintings I started tutoring at night school and at local art societies and art groups and running workshops.I've also exhibited with the National Acrylic Art Society and Bucks Art Society. My first taste of writing, in the 1970s, were two children’s books which I also illustrated for a leading insurance company on 'stranger danger'.In 1994 I was inspired to write a novel, and my book, a romantic fantasy Ghostly Embrace was born along with my hero Louis. I have spent the last few years on a journey with him. Ghostly Embrace was published in 2019, Ghostly Return in 2021 and Ghostly Light is in the works with an expected date of late October 2023.
